Summary
Blair is drawn into the fate of a despairing elf who has lived since the long-ago days of Middle-earth. Through the dreamscape, he and Jim recruit Gandalf, who draws in Radagast the Brown, who has also remained in the world. Gandalf, with Legolas, Gimli, and Faramir have planned an expedition into Mordor to seek the palantir Sauron used, and Jim and Blair enter Middle-earth with the lost elf, to aid them. In Mordor, they encounter a human immortal, a remarkable orc, an unknown relative of Blair's as well as a dark evil that lurks in the ruins of Barad-dur, an evil that is too powerful for any one of them alone to deal with.
