From the title page:

THE BISTO KIDS no.2 zine will happen - I am looking for art work, fiction, poetry, your letters - tell me your fave novel passages, your fave episodes, and why, why you still like The Professionals today, and please feel free to discuss the actors too.

FEEDBACK WELCOME. ASIDE FROM SLASH, WHAT OTHER ITEMS WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN FORTCOMING ZINES? Slash I don't take, but stories similar to those included in No.1 are welcome.

From the editorial:

Welcome to my first "PROFESSIONALS" fanzine. Although I've always liked THE PROFESSIONALS, and Doyle was my favourite of the duo, and I took photos from the series, collected the odd one or two things over the years, I was never actually 'into' the show or characters. Strange how it happened suddenly, like a 'born-again Professionals fan, if there is such a thing! It was April 1988 when ITV gave us repeats, and I hadn't anything to read, so I thought how about if I try reading the few Prof, novels I had(for trade), well - that was it! Those novels are now in my possession, plus the rest making a full set. I'm still trying to get through No's 10, 12 & 13 at the moment. When you do get 'into' the characters of an fandom, I think it's easier to write fiction, poetry, and then you want to read everything in sight too!

In my earlier letters to the British l/z, Mixed Doubles, I had stated that Bodie and Doyle didn't seem very caring to each other and I certainly got some replies to that! Anyway, I have since re-read them, and what pretty dumb letters they were too! I have enjoyed reading MD better than the first time around, as now I know what everyone was talking about! Of course, Bodie & Doyle cared for one another, in their own sort of ways. I can see it now.

That news about Martin vitoeing [sic] THE PROFESSIONALS was a bit of a shock to say the least. I first read it in The Sunday Times. I'm sure no other actor has ever done it. It hardly seems fair that one voice can spoil it for millions of fans/viewers. I didn't even know one person could have as much influence over a show being stopped. In a sense I see his point of view, being typecast as 'Doyle' forever more, but Lewis has the same problem, being called "Bodie." Perhaps Martin is more sensitive to these things. The Professionals wasn't a 'comedy show', so surely that was 'serious acting' as Martin was quoted to have said. He would surely have to "admit that A) the show did help him financially, B) put him on the map and C) gave him a job at that time. I did wonder how Lewis felt about it, and now I know, I've got to agree with him. The fact that Martin no longer wants to be associated with his role, does not justify that it's still shown overseas, fans who have the series on video, the release of the pre-recorded videos - he has no control over these, so fans are still going to see Martin as "Doyle" whether he likes it or not!}

Any typos you see in THE BISTO KIDS are my fault! Although I've proof-read it twice! I may have overlooked some: Other people often see what I don't and sometimes after it's been copied, I've seen some spelling errors - most annoying!

Possible future issues of THE BISTO KIDS brought out at irregular times, depending on contributions of course. Just send whatever you think, providing they're not "/". ARTISTS/WRITERS get free copy.

Since I now part-own a personal photo-copier machine which is at my premises, it's easier for me to run off zines, lists, stationery etc., whether there is one or several, the cost isn't involved. Zines like this one will be simply bound, no extra frills. The thought of running a PROFESSIONALS l/z is tempting, BUT it may prove just a little too much for me to handle - I already run two l/z's, and have various other projects outside of fandoms.

Issue 2

The Bisto Kids 2 was published in July 1989 and contains 23 pages.

cover of issue #2, Anne Marie

The editor notes in this issue that "The Spell," a story by Lily Fulford, would not be "coming soon" to this zine as it was "no longer available for BISTO KIDS. Sorry!"

From the editorial:

Due to finding out THE BISTO KIDS #1 was a little too thick for my stapling machine, No.2 & onwards will have fewer pages in, although still the same price. I wasn't overly sure when I first began exactly, of the costs involved, ie. postage and page count. Although I've got a long arm stapler, it just manages to go through 20pgs, and even then I sometimes need to hammer them down on the other side!

A special thank you goes to Anne Marie in Belguim for her art work in particular. Of course, I never say no to anyone else's.

It would be interesting to include letters as well, for discussion in these pages. Being a larger size give them more space, more scope I think. I do hope you, as Professionals fans will provide this service, since there now seems no evidence of a Prof. letterzine anymore.
