This is a wonderfully intense story, and very well written.We see Spock at Gol, going through the Kahs Cha Keni, a test of faith, where he's blindfolded and tethered to a stake out in the desert. W e leam what he did in his thoughts the first day, the second and so on and then...there's no escape from his memories of Kirk. He's thinking of their making love the last day on the Enterprise. What a gorgeous scene. Before leaving the ship to the ceremonies and press of people, in their last moments alone, Spock was massaging Kirk's shoulders and kissed his neck...and it went from there -- a moment of madness where Spock cast off all control. Beautiful, simple words, gorgeous Spock POV, wonderful sex.
There's more to it, but I won't say the rest. It's a beautifully simple—i.e. elegant—story. [1]
