Mods

The tModLoader modding interface allows for players to mod Terraria relatively easily, and many mods both big and small have been created:

While tModLoader is not maintained or controlled by Re-Logic, it has been officially endorsed by them, resulting in almost every mod being based on its framework.

Fanfiction

There are a few hundred Terraria stories listed on FanFiction.Net and Archive of Our Own. A large proportion of them are specifically Calamity fanfics, due to that mod's particularly extensive lore.

Fanart

Between customizable player characters and the NPC designs, the game gets a fair amount of fanart, such as on Reddit. The Zoologist and Dryad have been noted for getting a disproportionate amount of NSFW art.
