Any idea why the default sort still doesn't bring me directly to this page when I use "go"? Mrs. Potato Head 18:10, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- afaik defaultsorts only impact placements in lists. You need a redirect from Observer for it to lead you here.--Ratcreature 18:20, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- Well, color me dorky; I thought that's what the default sort did, made the "the" and "a" in a title invisible when searching for a title. *red faced* Mrs. Potato Head 18:51, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- It's just for making the article sort differently in the alphabetical list in Categories and in other article lists, so that not everything clumps in the As and Ts. The search engine seems to randomly ignore lots of stuff (I think it actually ignores articles just like it ignores all sorts of prepositions and such), but the "go" only works with an exact match so it needs redirects even for tiny variations, except sometimes capitalization, I think, which causes some links to be red if you do them in the text, but your arrive in a place if you hit go.--Ratcreature 19:14, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
