This fan used the term "eofandom" a lot in his correspondence. He defined it as "the period between the time when the potential for a fandom exists, but has not yet been realized is known in sf fandom as eofandom." Is this a term of his own making? --Mrs. Potato Head 19:57, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

never heard of it. I keep wondering if he is saying "neo fandom". But then I found this so it has a history of use.--MeeDee 20:34, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
And that link led to this. It's a useful term, and fannish, but has so little use, I hesitate to make a glossary page for it. Does anyone know if there is another/corresponding word/term we use instead, if there is another page on Fanlore we can hook it into? --Mrs. Potato Head 21:59, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
You could just add it to the definition of 'fandom'... that page isn't very long. "The period of time between a source's debut and a fandom actually existing has been called 'eofandom'" or whatever, and then just redirect "eofandom" to "Fandom." And maybe a note about how that period of time has become infintesimal or nonexistent in some cases, in the Internet era, when people create lj comms, etc., based on movie trailers or show promos, etc. -- Liviapenn 00:33, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
I'll give that a whirl. --Mrs. Potato Head 16:17, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
