Talk:Freak of the Week
Freak of the Week versus Monster of the Week
RivkaT My fandom experience is that Monster of the Week (MotW) was the preferred term in X-Files, and now Supernatural. Freak of the Week I think of as a term more common in Smallville, drawing on the canonical "meteor freaks." I don't know if I have a proposal to switch/rename the page, but it seems to me that the differing fandom uses might be cataloged. RivkaT 19:41, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. Sashadavidovna 20:46, 1 October 2008 (CST)
- I agree that Monster of the Week was the preferred term in XF and I know it from several other fandoms. I've never heard Freak of the Week, but I'm not in SPN fandom. I quick google search shows Monster of the Week as the more popular term. (Freak of the Week is a song title, therefore it makes comparison difficult. I searched for "Monster of the Week" + TV (~40,000) and "Freak of the Week" + TV (~26,000). --Doro 19:50, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- I separated out the various flavors "of the week", as they aren't exactly the same things and they are fandom specific. --rache 21:02, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- Buffy likewise seemed to use the term MOTW (most FOTW and Buffy google hits also seemed to reference SV).Cathexys 21:09, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- Wasn't the term used in Smallville Mutant of the Week? Either that or we used Monster as well, 'cause I remember MOTW, but not FOTW. Xenakis 18:33, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
