Talk:Fanpoetry
Hi hi! How wide-spread is this trend? In which fandoms? Is there a sort of...poetry fandom (as in, vidding fandom) or are they unconnected? --Lian 02:21, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
The "rekindled love affair" makes it sound as if there was a point when fanpoetry was even scarcer than now? Is this really true? I mean, can see the case for poems being more present in zine fandom than online, because the fanpoetry only zines I've come across seem to appear in all decades of fanzine fandom, also lots of poems listed in other zines, with only every now and then the announcement of zines guaranteeing "no poetry", and that seems definitely a higher poetry percentage than your typical online archive but it seems consistently low online with no rekindling I noticed, e.g. AO3 right now has 56,000+ works and the "poetry" tag gives 254 so that is like 0.45% poetry and for example the TS slash archive maybe representative for an older online fandom (and not one where poetry was very popular, iirc) has over 6,500 works and 27 poems which amounts to about 0.4% poetry, so that seems roughly the same amount. Similarly Wraithbait, the SGA archive has 29 poems of 8,540 works, so that's about 0.34% poetry. And admittedly I don't pay much attention to fanpoetry on LJ (philistine that I am I don't care much for poetry of any kind, fan or otherwise), but to pick a non-archive example, if I look at the Merlin newsletter, which is a new largish fandom and conveniently uses delicious, that has 6,269 pieces of fanfic bookmarked, and if I search the summaries for "poem" I get 16, that's only about 0.26% poetry.--RatCreature 19:56, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
Notable Works section
I've started a section for collecting notable works with a small selection of works I'm familiar with that have been widely recommended. Lots more expansion needed! Espresso Addict 03:42, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
