Talk:Fangirl Japanese
outdated? I always have seen this called weebspeak (weeaboo speak) and almost invariably used to describe "neckbeards" and other male otaku but this article claims the opposite. could this have changed over time? TimeFan (talk) 02:35, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
- I agree it seems that this is an old page that's grown out of date, so it should be updated to show the current and more common understanding of the subject. But I also think the page shouldn't be retitled until the page actually has some info about weebspeak specifically. —caes (talk) 03:35, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
- I always saw it called "fangirl Japanese" when discussing fanfic circa 2003. I'm sure other terms have been more common outside of fanfic and as 'weeaboo' rose to prominence. ('Weeaboo' with this sense was coined in 2005 on 4chan and took a while to spread to fanworksy spaces.) Franzeska (talk) 21:52, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
