I think Harry and Johnny needs its own page. Mrs. Potato Head 13:33, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

I popped all those zines in and then stepped out. I'll try to make some more sense of them! Mrs. Potato Head 15:16, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Re: H&J having its own page, the thing is, H&J seems to be pretty much the only fandom there is for the Dirty Harry movies. But the fandom template is "fandom by source text" and the name of the movie series is "Dirty Harry" so I created the page for that, and redirected Harry & Johnny, but I don't see why we'd need a new page. I mean, yeah, the source for Harry and Johnny seems to be also a fanon shared universe type of thing, and maybe it should be split into (sub)pages, but I don't see why the overview shouldn't stay associated with the movie series, especially as there doesn't seem to be much of fandom for Dirty Harry outside this slash shared universe.--Ratcreature 15:51, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
The thing about Harry & Johnny is it was one universe created by one person who directed every single piece of material in it. There was no overlap, no contradiction, no branching-out of any sort. Everything was vetted through her. It was, in fact, a single template of a universe with every spot filled in, and filled in only once. So, while there may be "Dirty Harry" fanfic out there, it isn't "Harry & Johnny." How about having the movie stuff on the Dirty Harry page with a note that says, "If you're looking for the Harry & Johnny shared universe... "? If not, I'm also fine with how it is now. Mrs. Potato Head 16:28, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Huh. That's strict. Okay, I can see the point of separating it out more clearly then. Do you think a subpage or an entirely separate page would be better? I mean, I'm not all that fond of subpages for anything that isn't just lists or glossaries and stuff like that (I hate the way Star Trek fandom is organized for example, but that's neither here nor there) so I would then be in favor of making the Harry and Johnny top level redirect a page for the shared universe.--Ratcreature 16:54, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
From what I hear, *very* strict! It's a completely unique fandom in itself, gone far beyond a shared universe. I agree with not liking too many sub-pages as that can get really crazy, but I think this one qualifies as its own planet. Mrs. Potato Head 17:26, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Can someone help me out of the snarl I just made? I tried to change the H/J page to "Harry & Johnny" with a redirect, and I think I really messed things up. Mrs. Potato Head 19:47, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure what snarl you mean. Harry & Johnny currently deos not exist, Harry and Johnny and Harry/Johnny both currently redirect here. Which page do you prefer for the separate Harry & Johnny one?--Ratcreature 19:59, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
I wanted the fandom to be officially called Harry & Johnny (with the ampersand), but when I changed something from the "Whatever Happened to Harry & Johnny" zine page, the link under fandom in the template turned red when it used to be blue. It made me think I'd buried something. Mrs. Potato Head 20:49, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
I looked at the history, and you just changed the "and" to an "&". For the former variant a redirect to this page currently exists, so the link was blue, for the latter no article or redirect exists, so the link is now red. That's all. You didn't change anything in the articles at all. If you create Harry & Johnny, you can then change the other variants to that page instead of to this Dirty Harry page, and all should be like you want.--Ratcreature 21:00, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Harry & Johnny as separate page?

Has there been any decision/consensus about this? I'd really like the links for Harry and Johnny to be consistent, not some fandom links non-existing even though some information is here (i.e. those links with the ampersand), some redirecting to Dirty Harry here (those with an "and"), etc. I mean, it pretty much seems that there is no Dirty Harry fandom outside this slash shared universe (though I'm not sure about this), and most fandoms are named after their source, otoh the H&J stuff is more specific than just Dirty Harry fanfic, but either way I'd just like links to not go into nowhere when they could lead to content.--RatCreature 12:25, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

I think we should go with Harry and Johnny or Harry & Johnny because this what the fandom called itself. It seems all the summaries, reviews, etc. talk about Harry and Johnny. I like consistency but insisting on Dirty Harry when the fandom didn't identify as such feels forced and I wouldn't appreciate it if it were one of my fandoms. --Doro 13:01, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
We should leave Dirty Harry as page too, though, and just put the Harry and Johnny stuff on its own page and interlink. I mean, there might be some other unrelated Dirty Harry fic, also people who don't know about the classic slash fandom are more likely to look under the movie name.--RatCreature 13:08, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

I moved Harry & Johnny to its own page as it completely overwhelmed Dirty Harry. --Mrs. Potato Head 15:10, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
