Talk:Comment Thread

Is this really a fannish topic? I don't think this page is necessary, that is I doubt that "comment thread" needs to be explained in fanlore at all. Also, as for the assertion that threading on LJ somehow impacted fannish reading and conversation, my email client sorted list conversations into threads long before LJ, never only by date, also collapsed long threads if I wanted, and I ignored whole parts of list traffic to cope with the volume and certainly didn't read list emails as they were posted, but in conversation order. If anything display on LJ allows you less control than an email client.--Ratcreature 01:50, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, I don't disagree. OTOH, I've had encounters with fannish people who will not be named (*cough* in their class-free utopia *cough*) who seemed totally baffled by the very idea of a comment thread. For whatever weird-ass reason it doesn't seem to have made its way to SFF. It might be nice to have this page as an easy referral? --Emma 01:53, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree with Ratcreature, on all points. I can see wanting to have something to point people at, but this could probably just be a paragraph on the Livejournal page, about specifically how comments work on LJ as opposed to other blogging services/messageboards/email. Maybe along with something about how conversations also move from LJ to LJ instead of staying centralized? --Arduinna 02:04, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
I'll go copy the content now. (How about using this as a redirect to the specific section on the LJ page?)
Oh, good thinking. I'll do that now. --Arduinna 03:23, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
