Amy Hate
There been a LOT of discussion of who hates this character & why (also whether the character deserves the hate or whatever). I'm gonna collect some links on here before I write anything on the page, b/c i've seen a lot of different takes and I personally don't have a strong sense of which (if any) are accurate.
It's weird seeing people say that Amy is hated because of "LessWrongers and Rationalists" being homophobic. Like, first of all, you need to recognize that the median LessWronger was an autistic transwoman. Also, Amy was pretty well liked during the period when the tumblr fandom was dominated by LWers. iirc, the main Amy hater during that period was a lesbian (who hasn't been active on tumblr in years, but whose interpretation of the character was proven to be 100% correct.)
Yeah, my impression was that the Amy hate mostly happened because Ward made the more unsympathetic interpretations of her character canonical (I hesitate to use "proven" for things that were written later; reading isn't a game of guessing future authorial intent), which was well after the period in which LW people were most active in the fandom.

Have you been spoiled as to why everyone hates on Amy? Because the biggest thing isn’t towards the beginning of Ward.

yeah i know why people hate her and i'm not disregarding it. honestly, from worm alone i thought the metaphor of what amy did (sorry for the vagueness. trying to avoid spoilers. but you know what i'm talking about) was pretty clear. enough so that in ward i wasn't surprised by her actions (i was moreso surprised that we were abandoning the figurative for the literal but that's a contentious point and not what this is about). That said, because parahumans is at its core a series about the violent cycles of trauma, and because worm specifically makes a damn good effort at pointing to villain characters and asking the readers to at least try and empathize with them, i find myself kind of shocked by the state of amy dallon discourse.

The scene from Worm being made more clear isn't the only reason people dislike her now. All through Ward, (vague spoilers) she keeps being toxic, entitled and unrepentant. People don't hate her for just that one act, they hate her for being one of the few people who never got any better.
