Page title
"Adopting Fanworks" might have been a clearer title and better alined with Deleting Fanworks and Orphaning Fanworks. (I only realized this after going with "Up For Adoption", sorry.) --Potpotkettle (talk) 02:04, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- I would be happy to rename the page if we want to change it - we could have "Up For Adoption" redirect to this page? I don't think the use of a specific term as the page name is a problem since we do document phrases like this and their usage, but OTOH, "Adopting Fanworks" might help to distinguish this from, say, adopting digital pets (since we do have some pages about those communities xD). --enchantedsleeper (talk) 15:29, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Good points. Here are some other things to consider (or more like, I'm just going to think out loud). The two titles concern adoption of fanworks, but from a bit different perspectives. When I created the page I wrote mostly about from the perspective of original authors, which I think is appropriate for the title "Up For Adoption". If it's titled "Adopting Fanworks", we'd expect more description of what adopting authors do (and examples of adopted stories). I don't have much to add on that front, actually, but maybe someone else can? A third option might be "Putting Fanworks For Adoption" - clear but a bit mouthful. --Potpotkettle (talk) 10:18, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
- Good points! I would say that having a more general term for the page title would probably be the best bet in terms of giving the page room to expand. So a page for 'Adopting Fanworks' could have sections both from the perspectives of authors relinquishing their fanworks and of authors adopting fanworks previously owned by other authors. It doesn't have to have all of that from the get-go, though - other editors can always come along and add more angles in future. --enchantedsleeper (talk) 22:44, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- enchantedsleeper: It has been a while, but it seems like Adopting Fanworks would be better all things considered. I will adjust the content as soon as it's renamed, while leaving some sections for future improvement. (Or should I do that first?) Potpotkettle (talk) 06:58, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
