Talk:A Time for Us
Translation of the review in German
As explained in the introduction, it is much more difficult to develop a crossover story with “Star Trek; Nevertheless, fans have tried it (“Star Trek: The Next Century”, Mondays to Thursdays at 4:09 p.m. on ZDF)In “A Time for Us” by Gina Alkazian, Catherine wishes she could spend more time with Vincent and falls asleep. Her dream is the actual crossover story. Catherine is a young lieutenant (specializing in social sciences) on the Enterprise-D, which, under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, flies to a planet where Vincent is a kind of outcast, but at the same time a member of a rare second race of this planet, who, along with others lives in a widely branched, hidden cave system (the tunnel world!). Lt. Chandler ends up in danger on this mission, from which she is rescued by Vincent, and so the two get to know each other and love each other (it's Catherine's dream, after all!). They have some adventures together and also manage to clarify Vincent's origins.
At the end of the story, Catherine wakes up, of course, but this changed point of view has given her, albeit only in a dream, some insights into her relationship with Vincent that had not been so clear to her before. The story is well written, but suffers from the different living conditions of Vincent and Catherine, as this naturally also changes the characters somewhat.
Nevertheless, it is quite entertaining and particularly interesting for Star Trek: The Next Generation fans
