meltdown date of b-b-t.mit.edu server

Does anyone have the actual date -- well, year -- for the meltdown on the b-b-t.mit.edu server? (And how I can remember the server, but not the date, is beyond me.) I have email showing that the mirror archive was active in spring 1999, but I vaguely recall it being more like a full year (-ish) between the b-b-t meltdown and 852 taking over for real in late 1999. --Arduinna 05:23, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Fixed! Added a bit of detail about why the Interim archive was necessary, and yanked the "Mirror" part because it wasn't the official archive name. :) --Merry
