"Surviving" is a short ficlet by trianne based on Mary Renault's 1953 novel The Charioteer. It was posted (and set) on VE Day in 2005.
Synopsis
Laurie and Ralph...still together after all these years.
Background
In response to a comment posted to the same page as the story, the author said:
I love domesticity in fics and this seemed to be so likely, the two of them still together but so very old. How old would they be? I guess if Laurie is 22 in 1939 then he'd be born in 1917 and Ralph would have been born about 1915? So today, Laurie would be 88 and Ralph 90... I think that is actually pushing the bounds of poetic licence but it's a nice thought anyway!
