Sunless Sea takes place in the same universe as Failbetter Games' text-based browser game Fallen London. In Sunless Sea, the player captains a ship on the Unterzee, the underground sea which Fallen London's port is attached to. The game has similar card-based mechanics to Fallen London in some ways, but focuses much more on its exploration and rogue-like elements, with much harsher consequences- usually death.
