"Summer in Scotland"[1] is a short story written by fawatson for queen_ypolita as part of Yuletide 2008 challenge. It features Mic Freeborn and Jan Lingard of Purposes of Love, which is one of Mary Renault's early contemporary novels. The story is set pre-book, expanding on a line in the novel that refers to a photograph of Jan that Mic has with his bird photographs, and describes the situation in which that photo came to be taken.
