Wow. Where to start, to properly describe this one?hmm. 'tis nice and long, which is something I greatly prefer. minifics make nice snacks, but when ye really want to get stuck in on something first-rate, there's nothing finer than a long, well-written story with a goodish lashing of angst to season the mix. YMMV, of course, but ye could do a lot worse than read this one! it's AOS, the nu!verse's answer to Conscience of the King, however, the devil's in the details. knowing the original ep will let you understand the dramatis personae, but the plot itself is original and intense; takes the events of the original for a souped-up drive in a high-powered sport-flitter -- and what is best of all, does so through a K/S lens. it starts right in the middle of the action, and you don't realize at first who it is you're watching -- i'faith, it doesn't matter -- either way it's someone ye don't want to see hurt any worse... ..and you're off to the races! lots of great little details in this one, quite a lot of both boys being stupidly self-sacrificing and full of all sorts of unnecessary guilt -- and of course neither one will tell the other what's wrong, and they're both convinced they're right. we know better, but the story maintains the suspense very well indeed. more than once I was sure I'd guessed wrong what would happen next -- and I had, which, again, something I quite like. :) oh, and the ending is, hrm, well, yes. Quite. *beams* very yummy indeed!
It's posted on livejournal, so it's divided into sections -- very worth the effort. this one's got suspense, angst, gritty realistic plotting, *and* teh Hot Stuff! [1]
This story has stayed with me and I still go back and read it every once in a while. This fic is something that keeps you guessing, wondering what will happen next and who-done-it. Interesting use of the Tarsus IV villain and odd twists and turns around every corner. Really a great fic.[2]
