Straightbaiting is the antithesis to queerbaiting. This occurs in source materials where the audience is led to believe a character is straight, often exhibiting traits commonly attributed to heterosexual social norms or gender expression, only for the character to be revealed later as queer.
Sometimes, the term straightbaiting will be used with tongue firmly in cheek by queer folk familiar with queerbaiting.
