In this tale, Ray (recently partnered with Bodie) is watching Bodie play cricket, simply to try and make something of their partnership. As it says in the story, it was 'love at first sight. They took one look at each other and both decided they'd just love to commit murder'. However, Doyle's bad mood changes to when watching Bodie polishing the ball in the usual way, as Ray watches cricket on TV solely for such actions. When Bodie realises Doyle's reaction he puts on deliberate show, which results in Doyle paying him an unscheduled visit in the showers.
I don't know that I consider this a realistic situation - Doyle is not the way I usually see the character. This Doyle would stop at nothing sexually, and is so uninhibited as to perform sex in a relatively public place with the risk of someone interrupting - dicey for anyone, but particularly a CI5 agent. But the story is quite humorous, with some lovely lines - eg 'He hoped he had agreed to something wonderfully naughty and nasty and really
quite sweaty'. Enjoyable. [1]
