Reactions and Reviews
Irish's 'Sticks and Stones' is more a series of sketchy scenes than a stories, though some of the scenes are good in themselves.[1]
When Irish is at her best, she's one of the best B/A writers around. Unfortunately she also wrote a lot of forgettable stuff. Unfortunately, this is more of the latter than the former, but it's not awful. Familiar themes (Blake's charges, violence against Avon, will Avon stay or won’t he, can Avon bear to be told he’s loved?) but I appreciate (i.e. I like) Avon's reasons for being a git. This isn’t bad, but could easily have been better.[2]
