Reactions and Reviews

Why this must be read:

Ah, this is a discovery story, and who doesn't like this kind of story? Cowley assigns Bodie to guard an old acquaintance of him. And Doyle is not really happy to know this is a solo operation. But, as Cowley asks him to stay on close touch... well, we all know Doyle. :)

He spent the whole day with Bodie and his charge, and something happens, something that force Doyle to ask himself a lot of questions, and find some startling facts he must to face and deal with. [2]

Why this must be read: This is a lovely view of the partnership between Bodie and Doyle, and how one old friend of Bodie's can upset the applecart. We see Doyle learning more about Bodie - and getting it wrong, sometimes: "It was so far from what he’d expected, he was reminded again how little he knew Bodie at times ". We also see Doyle almost getting into a spot of trouble with Bodie's friend Jerry, prompting some classic Doyle self-analysis and angst. How our lads manage to extricate themselves from all the misunderstandings, and how they get together, is beautifully told with flashes of humour and a good descriptive turn of phrase. I was a bit surprised to find that this hasn't been recced here before - at least, not that I can find. Even if it has, it's some time ago, so I do hope you enjoy this as much as I do. [3]

I think you've been reading my mind as I've just been reacquainting myself with this story. I really like the author's work and wish they'd written more. [4]

Great choice, the first piece of slash fiction I read was by this author. I loved her web page, it was my introduction to fandom. [5]

I saw [livejournal.com profile] sherrold around when I first showed up, and considered her one of the eminences grises of the fandom. I was really sorry I never got to speak to her (too intimidated at the time, I guess). But I never really read any of her fic before.

Thanks for posting this, and giving me a start to catching up on her work. [6]

Doyle, when he gets into his head as he does here after leaving Bodie and Carnaby, can be his own worst enemy. Your version of him flaying himself within his own thoughts is priceless. Bodie's method of opening him up, getting his undivided attention, is likewise pitch perfect. [7]

poor mortified Ray, when he finally realises what he's been doing all this time!

"What a strange sort of jealousy he’d had; he hadn’t even allowed himself to think about taking Bodie away from women, so he’d taken women away from Bodie.

Now he could just add Jerry to Rebecca, Laura, Sarah, and before them, a list of names he was embarrassed to admit he didn’t even remember any more."

thankyou to Sandy for a lovely read![8]

What a lovely story. I enjoyed it no end and I could picture every moment off it. Thank you Sandy. [9]

I really, really love this, the way doyle is unconsciously jealous of bodie and how the whole thing plays out (jerry feeling like a real (annoying) person), and all the details, like when bodie suddenly remembers that they have been called to work, and the banter with the other agents, and bodie telling doyle it's going to be ok.
