Stars Fall, Light Dims is a for-profit fanzine centered on the character Zhongli from Genshin Impact.

About

The interest check for this project ran from February 4-14, 2021[1], garnering at least 100 responses in the first 24 hours[2]. Mod applications for the project ran from February 14-24, 2021[3], while contributor applications started March 10, 2021 with an announced end date of April 5[4], then were extended to April 12, 2021[5].

Preorders opened on August 18, 2021 with a scheduled end date of September 22, 2021[6], and later was extended to September 29, 2021[7]. The following pricing tiers were offered[8]:

  • Topaz (PDF Only) ($15 USD): Digital Zine Bundle
  • Jade (Zine Only) ($20 USD): Physical Zine
  • Lazuli Flat Merch Bundle ($37 USD): Physical Zine + Sticker Sheet + Stickers + Print
  • Chrysos Full Bundle ($65 USD): Physical Zine + Charms + Enamel Pin + Sticker Sheet + Stickers + Print + Metal Bookmark

PDF add-ons were available for $10 USD for the standard zine and $5 USD for the NSFW side zine[9]. Merch was also available individually for separate preorder, and there was a standee add-on not included in any of the bundles[10].

Three stretch goals were included in the project: Discord emotes at 30, a charm/sticker at 60, and a mora coin at 100[11]. Only the first stretch goal was announced successful[12], but the second goal charm was produced and included in bundles[13].

The zine did a merch collaboration with Fraction of Light, a zine centering Albedo, where anyone making orders that included the physical zine from both zines would get a washi tape in the Fraction of Light zine delivery and a print and sticker sheet in the Stars Fall, Light Dims zine delivery - all three items featuring both Albedo and Zhongli[14].

All preorders were announced as shipped February 20, 2022[15]. Leftover sales ran from July 8-31, 2022[16]. All leftovers were announced as shipped August 5, 2022[17].
