Club Description
For those of you out there who are seeing this for the first time, we will run down a few basic ideas.
WHAT IS STAR FLEET?
Star Fleet is a Star Trek-Science Fiction fan club with the emphasis on younger fans. We believe that if there is ever going to be a United Starship Enterprise to explore other star systems, that it will be the 9, 10, and 11 year olds of today that will design, build and pilot it.
WHO CAN JOIN STAR FLEET?
Membership is in two forms. Membership in the club itself is reserved to kids under fourteen. Those over fourteen who wish to participate may join the advisors council.
HOW CAN I JOIN STAR FLEET?
Very simple. Just send your name, address, age, telephone number and TWO pictures of yourself to: STAR FLEET, c/o Rick Blackburn, PO Box 15451, Los Angeles, Ca, 90015.
IS THERE A MEMBERSHIP CARD?
YES! That is why we ask for two pictures of you. Star Fleet has a photo ID card to identify members. The cards are made by club members (amatures [sic]) as a cost holding factor, but it also means we are not unknown to foul up the first attempt. That's why we need two photos.
WHAT ABOUT DOES?
There are no official dues. Activities are financed as they come up. Out of town members who are visiting in the Los Angeles area will be the guests of the club on any activity (parents too!)
WHAT ABOUT PUBLICATIONS:
Star Fleet puts out a monthly newsletter, Quasar... As long as we can do it, it will be free to all members of Star Fleet. We would like to see any stories, art or ST-ScF articles that you have.
WHAT IS THE TRIANGLE ALLIANCE?
The Triangle Alliance is a confederation of three clubs, all with similar interests. Star Fleet is located in Los Angeles, and is Skippered by 13 year old David Everett. Star Trek Nuts (STN) is run by George Perkins (14) of Brookings, South Dakota. Friends of Star Trek (FOST) is presided over by 14 year old Dan Munson of Winona, Minn. Their addresses are available by writing to Star Fleet, or in the Star Trek Welcommittee Directory. [1]
