A nuanced piece of writing which combines both Fraser POV and Ray's third-person observations as they turn to each other, and then things get difficult. I found her stylistic choices to be quite effective in conveying the bittersweet tone of the piece - the first four sections have a smooth sort of surreal quality that's difficult to describe. The characterization of Fraser is a bit different than most I've read, but I liked it very much, perhaps because of that. [1]
