Songs of the Dream is a 44-page het Beauty and the Beast anthology in the form of letters between Catherine and Vincent. They are written by Charlotte Asonovski & Rikki Danvers. The art is by Kathy Fidge.

Reactions and Reviews

Strong series of private journal entries and letters exchanged between Vincent and Catherine, often in reaction to some episode. There are also a few poems. Vincent's letters are very much in the style of those given on the "Vincent Letterline" on the phone here in the states; these loving but not sticky-sweet musings and exchanges read well in comparison to those scripted by Ron Koslow.

A sample, from Vincent's journal, approximating the calligraphic-style type of many entries: "It is late at night and above me the city sleeps, but I cannot. A thousand thoughts chase fiercely through my brain and steal all peace from within. And why? Because of a kiss, a simple soft press of Catherine's lips to mine; and I am beset by 'maybe's' and 'what if's.' It was so gentle, so sweet and it has turned my life upside down."

"I have never felt a kiss like that. Oh, I have been kissed. Mary kisses me, motherly kisses — forgetting my age. Father kisses me still at times, and I have had many sweet kisses from the children. The last kiss I felt which created such a storm in my soul was from Lisa. It was so long ago I have almost forgotten the feel of her lips, but I have not forgotten the aftermath....."

If you find this sample absorbing, you'll agree with the reviewer that this zine has good, atmospheric reading throughout. Handsome artwork by Kathy Fidge. [1]
