Something Else was a social club for fans in the UK.
From an ad in Galaxy Travellers #14:
Something Else is a club for aliens of all races, including non-Trek ones like Star Wars characters etc. It is primarily a pen pal network. There are no rules beyond those of common courtesy, and no ranks. There are no official club officers. Everyone is equal. Anyone from any part of the club is free to set up a ship or an outpost and each member is free to join whichever ship they choose. For those who live in remote locations or have no other members nearby, you can set up friendships with whoever you please. We’ll try and produce a list of members at regular intervals. There is no requirement to write to any particular people. You are free to contact and form relationships with whoever you please. All we ask is that if you get a letter, you respond, even if it is to say you have enough contacts for now.
There is a quarterly newsletter containing topics for discussion, stories, poems and artwork. The aim of the club is for like minded people to make contact and have fun. We don’t take anything too seriously. Meetings, conventions, costuming, interactions with other clubs are all high on the agenda. Subscription is £5.50 (cheques payable to Something Else) and you need to write to Sara Dickinson [...] Wilts SN4 9HT. There is also a free email subscription for those of you who prefer to receive a newsletter by email. Contact Sara about this at ([email protected]) letting her know if you have Word 6 or 7 otherwise you will just receive a text only version of the newsletter.
