Cedfia is the pairing of Sofia the First and Cedric the Sorcerer from the Disney Junior show Sofia the First.
Canon
Sofia first meets Cedric on the day she arrives at the palace when he makes a mistake on his welcoming spell. He crashes into her in the throne room where he fumes over his position in the castle while Sofia looks on with hero worship.
Their relationship in canon goes from enemies to friends, where Sofia is oblivious to Cedrics attempts to steal her magical amulet. While Sofia continues to admire and seek out Cedric's advice and assistance, he slowly softens his interactions with her. He becomes addicted to the praise and will often change his wicked plans when she offers him the chance to show off his magic.
For a time Sofia is his apprentice while she tries to keep up in her sorcery classes and in the end he is proven a true friend to the girl.
Shippy Moments in Canon
- Cedrics Apprentice: Sofia thanks Cedric by giving him magical rubies formed in the shape of a heart.
- In the final episode, Cedric reminds her of the gift and create a tiara for her to wear to her graduation.
Fandom Overview
By the time season, 2 came around, there were artists and fan artists creating content for this ship. Two big contributors were Cawoli and Jess-Deaton, both of whom have since left the fandom due to harassment by anti shippers. There are private collections of their canary within the Cedfia community but the artists themselves have deleted their social media accounts. It is possible to find stray artworks on Pinterest.
The ship fandom is still going strong though many of them keep their preference for the pairing a secret.
As of 2021, Cedfia is the leading pairing on AO3 for the STF fandom.
Ship Wars & Controversy
The primary complaint about this ship is due to the age gap between the characters. Antis have taken to leaving harassing comments on the artwork on Tumblr, Instagram, and Pinterest.
