Snapecast is a podcast about the Harry Potter character Severus Snape, and it is the only podcast that is guaranteed all Snape, all the time. It was created by chaeche and a host of other talented Snape fans including pennswoods, msavi, lampblack, gina_r_snape, perosha, and shark_girl.

The first episode was released on June 1, 2006, and the show ran monthly for about 2 years until the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Every month the cast grappled with deep and probing issues such as Snape's loyalty, Snape's pain, Snape's snark, and of course, Snape's fabulous fashion sense.

The Owlpost segment would not be possible without Snarky the Owl, who delivers mail for the Snapecasters and serves as their link to the magical world. He is a sassy little bird, but he's cheap. The Snapecasters pay him in pretzels and peanut butter.

On January 9, 2008 (Snape's birthday), the Snapecast staff released the final regular episode of the show. Subsequently special episodes have been recorded coinciding with major developments in the fandom, conventions, or other Snapely events.

On July 9, 2008 Snapecast hosted the first all Snape convention: Snapefest in Dallas, Texas. Activities included various Snape-centric panels, a fashion show, potions class, and a candlelight vigil for the professor.

As of September 15, 2011, 42 podcasts have been release, averaging 1-2 hr each.
