Slime Rancher is an indie video game, originally released in early access in 2016. Though the game received its full release on August 1, 2017, it has continued to receive official content updates, both in the form of free patches and as paid DLC.
Overview
The player takes the role of Beatrix LeBeau, a young woman seeking to make a name for herself as a rancher in a faraway galaxy. You begin your life on the "Far, Far Range" where you use your trusty vacpack to gather and corral slimes, who produce "plorts" when fed. These plorts can be sold for money, which can in turn be used to expand and upgrade the ranch. Beatrix also receives messages and requests from other characters—mostly other ranchers, but also her partner Casey on Earth, with whom Beatrix is in a long-distance relationship. These NPCs sometimes appear in fanworks, and some—in particular Casey, Viktor Humphries, and Mochi Miles—are sometimes shipped with Beatrix.
