Skinship is a term used to refer to physical intimacy in Korean and Japanese fandoms. It means "Skin+relationship." It refers to the act of non-sexual touching between intimate friends.
The term apparently originated as a means of describing closeness between mother and child.[1] However, the term is usually used today without this maternal context.
Skinship is sometimes performed as part of fanservice in Korea by idols (though of course, they might just be affectionate people). While the intention is ostensibly platonic, fans often use skinship to support theories behind RPF ships. Fans might also feel conflicted if idols seem uncomfortable with skinship, as it is likely that they are asked to do so to appeal to fans.
