Excerpts
What was your first experience with fanfic?:
Stumbled across the Ex Libris (JAG) Site of PG Fan Fiction.
What was your first encounter with X-Files fanfic?:
Figured if there was JAG fan fic there would be others so I searched under Fan Fiction and found Fan Fiction on the Net or something like that and found all these X-Files sites and then found Skinner stuff. Sighhhhhh…
The rest as they say is history.
What made you into a Skinneroticist?:
Actually all the great fan fic by other authors that opened up my appreciation for the character and what he could never be or do on the show. As for the 'eroticist' part, that's just part of life and part of the story I want to tell. My first had no erotica in it and until The Maiden Tribute, my favorite (Refuge) had no erotica in it either.
What are your top five all-time favorite stories?:
Caveat Emporium (Damn I love the ending).
Chained Hearts (This one made me a Skinner/Scully believer.
Paved Paradise (The Benchmark for all Post Colonization stories).
That Tight-Assed Cat (Funniest Damn story I've ever read).
A Little Light Reading (thought of this story when I wrote the dream sequence in my JAG story, Pirates).
How do you feel about fanfic in general?:
Some of the best writing I've read has been fanfic. I think that it is a wonderful way to share your passion and get instant feedback and it is a great way to practice your craft.
Is there anything else that you would like to say?:
For years I thought I was weird because I would fantize about characters in Television Programs that I had watched. It started back when I was a kid and fell in love with the Untouchables.
I would build intricate universes with me as the 'mary sue' character. It never really went away for long; progressing from 12 O'Clock High and The Big Valley in the 60's through Ironside and Kojak during the 70's STNG in the 80' and early 90's. Skinner, Chegwidden and Webb are my passions now.
Funny thing is, once I started writing about the characters now I never fantasize with ME in them at all. I really don't see myself in any of the "other" characters I write.
Of course my kids are totally embarrassed but there's nothing wrong with that.
