Silentwalrus is a fanfiction writer and fan artist who smashed the Harry Potter and Fullmetal Alchemist worlds together in 2020, producing the comedic fanfiction snipers solve 99% of all problems. Fans of either side of the crossover have come together, regardless of their knowledge of the other fandom.[1] In fact, silentwalrus themself claims to have not read/watched Fullmetal Alchemist,[2] relying on YouTube funny moment compilations.
Perhaps the main point of interest about this fic is that it came out of nowhere and very quickly gained high levels of engagement. Before snipers solve 99% of problems, silentwalrus' Ao3 account was solely dedicated to Captain America with a heavy emphasis on stucky. Then snipers solve 99% of problems was posted on 2019-09-15 and the as of yet unfinished (but rapidly updating, subscribers can expect up to two emails per day on occasion, although there is no set schedule) fic is now the second most commented fic of all time on the Harry Potter Ao3 tag[3] and the most commented fic on the Fullmetal Alchemist - All Media Types tag on Ao3[4] (with a 2000+ comment lead on the second fic in this listing). This is not to say that the fic is lacking in the kudos department, it has 5800+ kudos, but the comments outpace the kudos by a lead of around 3000, which is uncommon for a fic on Archive of Our Own.
Silentwalrus is also known for their high-quality art memeing. Their art tag[5] is home to both portraits and scenic pieces like this drawing of Roy Mustang and this NSFW drawing of Edward Elric (important to note: this artist draws and writes Edward Elric as an adult) alongside comedy pieces such as this Princess Buldozer Edward Elric Piece and this NSFW ensemble (which was the result of a collaboration with tinfigs.) They also wrote a collaborative NSFW fanfiction with ao3 user teacuptaako and other various works in the grapefruit cinematic universe - the title of which many believe to be a tongue in cheek reference to their previous fandom Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Although police are still hazy about the nature of their exact connections, tinfigs' ongoing connection with silentwalrus has many speculative viewers unsure wtf is going on exactly. In addition to multiple collaborative artpieces, works known to inspire other fans such as michaelangelo and the other turtle michaelangelo, tinfigs and silentwalrus produced country bumpin', a transformative work of genius whos topmost comment reads "NO THOUGHTS HEAD EMPTY RIP IN PEACE MR HAYSTACK." this is another tinfigs quotation.
