Reactions and Reviews
I must say I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the story. The cover illustration is by R. Hill, and the repro is good mimeo. The story by Simon Kovack is a Spock romance, and it fits all the standards for a 'marysue' ... but it is unusual in that the story is told from Spock's point of view. He's trying to set down his feelings in the hopes that he can better understand them and as he slowly realized certain things about himself, we get to realize these things too. There is also some lovely poetry by M. Cromarty, C. Nixon, and Anne Snell. Keith Jackson told me that Sha-lin may be the best Trek story printed in Britain; not having read them all, I really can't say. But it is for sure one of the best Spock romances I've read, and I liked it a LOT. [1]
