SergeAsylum is one in a series of mailing lists devoted to discussing the slash relationship between the Due South characters Fraser and Ray Kowalski.

"The Serge Asylum is a place for due South Fraser/Kowalski fans interested in on topic discussion and Due South slash fanfic."

Like many Due South mailing lists at the time, the list was a participant in the Ray Wars, coming down firmly on the Ray Kowalski side. From the FAQ:
No Vecchiosmut. Period. Dot it, file it, stick it in a box marked 'Done.' You can talk about him, just post stories about him having sex somewhere else. Get over it.

The list would not even permit threesomes fan fiction that involved Fraser, Ray Vecchio and Ray Kowalski. The list also prohibited het fan fiction, underage fan fiction and any discussion of RPS.

Approximate membership at the height of activity: 200.

Changes and Moves

In 2001, the list changed its name to dS_Asylum.

In 2003 the mailing list left yahoogroups and moved to another mailing list platform, calling itself "Asylum at Easy-List." The mailing list ceased operation after the move.

From an Early Introduction at Easy-List

This is the replacement list for SergeAsylum/dS_Asylum at YahooGroups.

Welcome to the asylum. The inmates are indeed running it; however, they know the difference between a hawk and a handsaw, the two Rays, and on and off topic discussion. This is a Fraser/Kowalski slash list; it has a narrow focus and is not trying to be all lists for all fans. Fiction that can be posted here is limited to F/K or PG/CKR role/role pairings. There will be frank and open discussion of m/m sexual practices and homosexuality. Rational debate about Benton Fraser, Ray Kowalski, Fraser and Kowalski, Due South, and technical/literary questions pertaining to literary endeavours is welcomed, indeed, encouraged; off topic discussion will be tolerated for a maximum of two messages, including news pertaining to Paul Gross or Callum Keith Rennie; flaming will not be tolerated but honest idea-based disagreement will. There will be no fic archive - due South slash fanfic can be found at due Slash. Welcome. Have fun.
