Reactions and Reviews

Stiffie Winner for best B7 short story 1996 - an unusual plot (which is always a bonus for me). After Terminal, everyone except Blake and Avon are dead and Avon has Blake hooked up to the machine that creates illusions. Blake is helplessly lost in a fantasy world that is totally under Avon's control.[1]

another award winner that i don't really dig all that much. i mean, it's ok? but i think the judges and i must not have similar tastes as this is not better than most of the others. the premise is that blake is really at terminal... but the 'your sentiment is showing' blake that avon met was a projection? (presumably as the real blake would have been yelling 'IT'S A TRAP'). so servalan (dead now) has all that equipment which avon uses to make the real blake... live through series 4 (which now does not happen). and blake is held prisoner and thinks that avon has gone mad - until they have sex, at which point blake realises he can't deny that he loves avon. stockholm syndrome i'm afraid, dear. i'm not sure why avon is doing what he's doing, or why (apart from the aforementioned syndrome) blake turns from 'avon is so crazy' to 'i guess i'll stay with him because i love him'. the 'terminal' thought manipulation is an ok premise (and i like that avon can do it because he's a computer genius), but this is not how i would have executed it.[2]
