Reactions and Reviews
Ever since I’ve read one of her stories, she has been a favorite of mine. No matter what she tried to tell me, she always succeeded. This story is no exception. The setting is that captured Klingon Bird of Prey on their desperate attempt to reach Vulcan in time for Spock’s Fal Tor Pan. That incredible mixture of emotions from Kirk: pain, anger, hope, remorse, doubt, anguish and … but most of all his love. Only a few pages long, it conveys it all. [1]
"Second Chance," by Toni Cardinal-Price, is only a few pages but is a lot of story. Spock, unconscious and on his way to Vulcan for the katra ritual; Kirk, exhausted from his battles and in pain; McCoy, worried over both — a touching moment between friends. Toni's stories are always moving. [2]
I‘d been thinking about the AIDT zines and how much I always loved them, so I pulled one off the shelf and began reading. I was not disappointed. The first story was this one and I was already attuned to Ms. Price‘s distinct style but nonetheless impressed. These three pages focus on a few moments on the captured Klingon ship that‘s returning Spock to Genesis. McCoy and Kirk share their feelings of love, grief and hope while sitting with Spock. It‘s a very touching story that leaves the reader with the distinct feeling that all the sacrifices were worthwhile. [3]
