Reactions and Reviews: Issue 2

I just read Seaview Soundings, Issue number 2. It has a lot of art done by the publisher - some good, part not so good. I thought he drew Admiral Nelson very well on the cover. Like Issue #1, nice background articles are included. A new addition is Part One of a pullout Technical Manual. Oddly enough, the piece of it I wish to comment on is the map of the Nelson Institute. It’s missing something - Parking spaces! The staff, scientists and crew could carpool, but it is unlikely that would be enough for the few parking spaces shown, especially in California. Otherwise, I had fun perusing the layouts.

My gripe is the building designated as the marine mammal building -- or whatever Barr calls it - I don't have my copy at hand for the actual name. it's also too small -- it would barely hold a small dolphin tank! Otherwise, it's okay I can't wait to see the next issue of this slickly- produced zine. [1]

Issue 3

  • SEAVIEW: The Making of VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA; The Voyage Miniatues: Part 2; THE SEAVIEW TECHNICAL MANUAL (note: not a full set of plans!); Down to the Sea in a Hollywood Moat; The Design and Developemtn of the Seaview; The Fan-Built Fleet: Part 2.
