Scimitar Smile is one of the few Fullmetal Alchemist fic archives that is still active. It is invitation only, and only hosts the entire body of work for authors who do not have personal archives or sites of their own.
Archivists
The founder and archivist for the first few years of the archive's operation was Sol. In 2005(?), however, as she started to drift out of FMA fandom, she turned it over to Mikkeneko, who is the current archivist.

Initially, one of the policies of the archive was that an author who accepted an invitation to be included was granting blanket permission for Scimitar Smile to archive any and all of that author's published fic. This led to some conflicts with authors who did not want particular stories archived off LJ and over co-authored fics in cases where the second author did not wish the fic archived on Scimitar Smile. The policy was eventually changed.

Side Notes
The name of the archive was taken from a line describing Edward Elric's smile in Ever by Branch, who, in turn, adopted it from a line describing Miles Vorkosigan's smile in The Warrior's Apprentice by Lois McMaster Bujold.
