The word Saintsona is commonly used within the Saint Seiya fandom and encompasses several concepts. Primarily, it refers to the creation of a portrait of oneself as a character within the Saint Seiya universe, often depicted wearing an armor that may or may not exist in the original source material. Frequently, individuals portray themselves as gold saints, wearing with the gold cloth corresponding to their zodiac sign. This practice can intersect with the notion of self-insertion if the created character is depicted alongside canon characters from the series. Additionally, 'Saintsona' has also been used to describe an Original Character (OC) inspired by the Saint Seiya series, either partially or entirely based on the artist themselves. In some cases, creators develop a backstory for their 'Saintsona' character as well.
