From the editorial:
Those of you who aren't coming to the Meetings these days are missing a lot. The "snacks" provided by the Whitmores for the April meeting were worth the trip, not to mention the fun we had at the meeting.
Yes, the meetings are fun! Half the pleasure is the opportunity to meet and talk to people who share common interests... and talk we do. Before and after the business portion, we talk,...about Star Trek, of course, and The Next Generation, conventions, science fiction in general, movies, books, actors, writers and ideas, what we liked and didn't like and why. We don't always agree with each other and sometimes the discussions get pretty lively but that, too, is part of the fun.
At the April meeting, once business was over and a good start made on the food, the ST episode, "Where No Han" was put in the VCR and the sound turned down so we could talk over it. The ideas presented by the episode, how the special effects were achieved, the good parts and the blunders, what we thought when we first saw it and how the characters developed in later shows, especially the second season, the most notable change being in Spock, the obvious chemistry developing between Kirk-Shatner-Spock-Nimoy. (which is so sadly lacking in TNG). Some of the insights offered by people about the show and about themselves were, pardon my use of the word, "fascinating." And everybody that wasn't there missed a lot of what STOBA is all about.
