Rot13 is a trivial encryption standard that rotates ('rot') each letter in the plaintext 13 places forward (or backward) through the Latin alphabet. This is one means of hiding spoilers from a quick reading, but allowing readers who are interested to fairly easily decrypt the cypher text.

Some Oldbies claim to be able to read rot13 as easily as English, but sites like rot13.com also offer easy decryption. Rot13 offers several advantages over more technologically sophisticated mechanisms for hiding spoilers, which may use javascript or text colour attributes, in that it is both accessible to the less technologically adept, and does not rely on browser technology, which differs according to user.
