Rocky Weyr was a Dragonriders of Pern roleplay fanclub set on Pern's Southern Continent during the early 9th Pass. Its newsletter was known as The Rocky Review in a list of active clubs compiled in 1991,[1] but by 1996 Rhiannon James' Welcome to Pern homepage gave the newsletter's name as On Dragon Wings.[2]
About
Rocky Weyr, 9th Pass: is set circa Turns 27-29 of the same Pass as Lessa and F'lar. The Weyr is located in the Southern Continent, on Ierne Island. Near Rocky, by fiat of the Dragonlady, is the only other place on Pern (besides Bitra and Lemos) that the skybroom tree grows. Rocky members and Ista 9 members have done crossover stories between their two Weyrs. Contact Weyrwoman Fianna aka Liz Patton [...], former Weyrleader G'fahr aka BJ Murphey-Lenahan [...], or current Weyrleader D'lan aka Dennis Coyle [...]]. Rocky Weyr's newsletter is called *On Dragon Wings*. Rocky Weyr is host to the regular Saturday night "party and discussion conference" held in The Weyred Room at 10 p, Eastern. Rocky Weyr was established in 1990 by BJ Lenahan and Elizabeth Patton in conjunction with Organized Pern Fandom. It's purpose is to allow both a forum for Pern Fans, and a creative outlet for the writing and artistic talents of it's members. Rocky was formed with the consent and help of Ms. McCaffrey, and operates within her guidelines for Pern Fandom. We participate in the weekly Pern Conference in Room 8 of the Conference area in the SFLIT forum on CompuServe (GO SFLIT). Please feel free to join us; it takes place at 10pm Eastern on Saturdays. There is also a more formal moderated conference on Fridays at 10pm Eastern.
Our Newsletter is On Dragon Wings, which is currently being published twice a year. If at some future time, we have enough interest in the newsletter, we will publish more often. The newsletter contains information on Rocky Weyr, as well as member fiction and artwork (when available), articles by members, and letters from members to the group.Rocky Weyr contact information, archived 2003
