Revisionist History is a 108-page het Janeway/Chakotay novel by Penny A. Procter. Cover by Pete.

Summary from the publisher: "When adult Jake Sisko starts to write the true story of Janeway, Chakotay, the crew and Voyager, he finds that things are not always as they seem."

Author's Quote

It's one of three stories I began in anger (the others are "Reset" and "Pre-Emptive Strike").
At the end of Voyager's season 6, I was totally disgusted with the lack of respect for continuity shown by TPTB - not just with Trek canon, but with Voyager's own history. I figured that if they could change the show's past to suit their purpose, so could I. There's a singing group I love, The Four Bitchin' Babes. They've got a song with the line, "I'll fix you, I'll write a song." Well, that works for fanfic, too. I wanted to show Them that it was possible to write an interesting story and still include relationships - not just J/C, but all kinds of relationships. Then, once I came up with the idea of featuring characters from all 4 series, the anger faded and I began to really enjoy myself.[1]

Reactions and Reviews

But every Trek fan really should go to Proctor's web site and read her opus "Revisionist History", the greatest Voyager story ever told and a prime example of why all rules for the SNW contest should be discarded. [2]

This is an extraordinary Voyager novel. The author summarizes her story in these words: "Fifty years after Voyager's return, Jake Sisko tries to find the truth about Janeway, Chakotay and the events surrounding their homecoming." That summary doesn't do true justice to the scope of the author's vision, her skillful interweaving of Trek canon from the first four series, or her unerring insight into the truth of the characters. If I had to pick one Voyager story out of hundreds and thousands as a must-read, it would be this one. [3]

it's widely viewed as *the* best VOY fic of all time, narrowly edging out the "Talking Stick/Circle" series by Macedon and Peg Robinson. There was a period when everyone and her sister were writing "Voyager Returns Home" stories; this fic left them all in the dust and was hailed as an instant classic. This story has got everything: romance, intrigue, plot twists, guest appearances from practically everyone you've ever heard of in the Trek universe. Long and satisfying, it will make you wish the Voyager series had indeed wrapped up this way.[4]

This famous J/C novel is famous for a reason. You should read it.[5]
