Canon Background

Ren'al is a Tok'ra operative and member of the Tok'ra High Council. She is the ambassador to Earth when Jacob/Selmak is not available.

History

She has had several dealings with the SGC. She is a biochemist who were in large part responsible for developing the Tok'ra symbiote poison. She also came up with the plan of using this bioweapon to kill all the Goa'uld System Lords which met in the Hassara system for a summit. She was killed when Zipacna attacked her base.

Fandom

Because she seems more willing to use the bioweapon than the rest of the Tok'ra - who generally wishes to wait until it can be made to not harm the Jaffa or the human carrying the symbiote - she is considered either more dedicated or more ruthless than the others. She also appears to have been the one to decide not to allow Lantash to attempt to heal Martouf after the zatarc incident. Some consider that to have been more because they would then not get to do an autopsy on Martouf and potentially get knowledge about the way the zatarc-programming was done, than because she feared they might both die if Lantash should be too weak to heal them both. At the very least, she is considered to place a higher importance on the cause than on the people.

Fanfiction

Extremely little fanfiction is written about her. She is no more than a very minor character in most fanfiction.

Examples of Fanfic

Gen

  • Holding My Breath Season 5. Daniel begins to disappear from team interactions leading to feelings of failure. During Summit and Last Stand, why did SG-1 stand by quietly while he went off alone on such a dangerous mission? Why didn't they care? Why didn't he? Angst/drama. Ren'al is not in it terribly much, but some - especially early on. Note that it is part of a longer series.
