Rasputin is a Eurodisco pop song by Boney M, released in 1978. The song is about Grigori Rasputin, advisor to the Tsar Nicholas II of Russia during the early 20th century. Throughout the song, Rasputin is described as a manipulative playboy who was wanted dead by many men in Russia and was eventually murdered.
Fanvidders who use the song frequently take on the additional challenge of using sound effects from the clips they are using to fill in on the claps, percussion, and some other instruments used by the band in the song. These are often punches, other strikes including those from weaponry, explosions, gun fire as well as various other in show sound effects.
Many of the videos use a shortened version of the song, coming it at between 1:45 minutes and 2:30 minutes as opposed to either of the full-length versions.
