Purposes of Death[1] is a short story written by fawatson for the Brigit’s Flame January 2013 challenge (to the prompt: ledge). Set in the world of Mary Renault’s "Purposes of Love", the story shows Vivian as sole nurse on a ward at night. She falls asleep and the ghost of her dead brother Jan visits her, as irreverent in death as he was in life.
