Why this must be read: Because devildoll is a fabulous writer, and you should read everything that she writes! She has a great style, with pitch-perfect characterizations and a terrific balance between comedy, angst and the absurd. This is one of my favorites of hers--and believe me, it was hard to pick just one. In this fic, which takes place on Earth (it's not an AU), John is drowning his sorrows in a local bar, because he's just been dumped by Rodney. The situation, however, is not quite what it seems... [1]
The author's description of the story as "foofy humor" is pretty fitting, Sheppard is dense and drunk and it's funny and a little sweet.[2]
