Project Falcon was a Star Wars fan campaign. Its late 1970s or early 1980s goal was to have the second United States space shuttle named "Millennium Falcon."
The campaign was spear-headed by Ingrid Maack.
This fan campaign was not without precedence. Star Trek fans had rallied, and were successful with the naming of the first space shuttle, "Enterprise" in September 1976.
